I also have a question that I get a lot these days. I am 165cm tall, how much weight is appropriate? Please tell me the best weight for my height. There are lots of you who tell me your height and ask me to let you know the best weight. You know that chart showing beauty weight and standard weight It tells you the best weight for certain heights. To be honest, when I was in the early stage of my diet, I tried to keep up to the weight written in the chart. I am 169cm tall and the chart said that beauty weight is 52kg. I did my diet really hard and went down to 52kg. But I just didn’t look good, I was like, oh should I lose more weight? so I tried harder. A weight that starts with 4 seems like a celebrity’s weight, right? So I lost weight and reached 4 something kg, but I still didn’t look good. I was still far from those wannabe bodies that I imagined and my bottom half was still chubbier that my upper half. Although I lost some weight, it wasn’t that ideal body. So the word unhappy was very true. I just wasn’t satisfied. I liked that my body got to wear smaller size clothes, but I didn’t have that confident look I liked. I realized why that was much later. It was because I thought about diet 24/7. When someone gives me a food, I would think will this make me fat, how much should I eat this to get fat. Should I workout after work? What kind of excercise should I do today. When I was working out I was thinking about food and when I was eating, I was thinking about excercising. Because all I thought about was losing weight, my mind got really tired. Human’s greed is endless. The idel body I want is this. But those people will have made that body with a personal trainer for a long time. Losing weight to 49kg wouldn’t give you that toned body. I never admitted that that was the result of long term effort, and was just concerned with why my body wasn’t like that even when I was 49kg. So I experimented with my body and proved it for myelf. I found out that you won’t get satisfied by sticking to that beauty weight chart and lose weight following it. Standards for success and standards for happiness should be found within, not from outside chart that other people made or other people’s body. I realized that real purpose of diet is to gain confidence through achieving eating and excercising habits and taking away that self-efficacy of thinking oh I’m good at this. So if you ask me what the appropriate weight is for 165cm, it’s hard to answer. I think it can be 50kg, 55kg or 60kg. But if those 50, 55, 60kg people are living healthy life without any problems don’t feel tired when they wake up in the morning have positive mindset whatever they do, are full of energy and vitality, full of confidence and self efficacy, don’t overeat and eat late and workout regularly, I think that all 50, 55, 60kg people have appropriate weight right now.
