JBL Charge 4 vs JBL Flip 4

Hey everyone. I’m Max Dalton, and in this video I’m going
to compare the JBL Charge 4 to the JBL Flip 4 to help you figure out which JBL Bluetooth
speaker is right for you. The JBL Charge 4 and the JBL Flip 4 are both
great speakers that offer a lot of the same functionality and features. For example, both speakers are IPX7 waterproof,
support Bluetooth 4.2, and can be connected to other JBL speakers using JBL Connect. However, there are some differences between
the speakers, and in this video I’ll dive into what those differences are. First, we’ll discuss the general form factor
of each device. The JBL Charge 4 looks and feels like a much
bigger device than the JBL Flip 4. The JBL Charge 4 weighs in at just over two
pounds, while the JBL Flip 4 weighs in at just over one pound. Most people can comfortably carry the JBL
Flip 4 around in one hand, but because of its size, you may not be able to do that with
the Charge 4. The JBL Charge 4 has a stand on the bottom
that comfortably supports the device. Alternatively the JBL Flip 4 rests on a plastic
piece that runs across the back of the device. Both JBL Bluetooth speakers have a similar
appearance, wrapped in the same wire and mesh combination, with an orange, metal plate on
the front featuring the JBL logo. Now, we’ll look at button access. The buttons on both the JBL Charge 4 and JBL
Flip 4 are easy to access, but are in different places. All of the buttons on the Charge 4 run along
the top of the device, with the Power and Bluetooth buttons being the easiest to see
in the center. Alternatively, the volume, Play, and Bluetooth
buttons sit just above the bar that runs across the back of the JBL Flip 4, while the Power
and JBL Connect buttons are built into the plastic bar. One of the most convenient aspects of the
JBL Charge 4 is the location of the LED lights that indicate the battery status. These five LED lights are located along the
base of the Charge 4 on the front of the device. Alternatively, the five LED lights that indicate
battery status on the JBL Flip 4 are located on the back of that device, making them harder
to see. Next, let’s look at the difference in audio
quality between the JBL Charge 4 and the JBL Flip 4. The JBL Charge 4 features roughly twice as
much audio output power as the JBL Flip 4 and offers a deeper, richer bass sound. However, while the Flip 4 doesn’t pack as
much punch, it produces a cleaner and more crisp sound, and higher pitches don’t get
overrun by the bass, which can happen on the Charge 4. The added power of the JBL Charge 4 is nice,
but the washed out sounds that can result from the pronounced bass is frustrating. Now let’s do a quick sound test between the
JBL Charge 4 and the JBL Flip 4. Here’s a 10 second audio sample on the Charge
4. And here’s the same 10 second sound clip on
the Flip 4. You be the judge. Now let’s talk about power and ports. The JBL speakers both take roughly four hours
to fully charge, however you’ll get roughly 20 hours of playback with the Charge 4 and
12 hours from the Flip 4. The ports are located on the back of each
speaker, concealed behind a rubber flap. The JBL Flip 4 offers a micro USB cable for
charging, and a 3.5 millimeter port for connecting your speaker to other devices, such as a laptop. Alternatively, the JBL Charge 4 offers a USB
Type C port for charging your device, a 3.5 millimeter port for connecting external devices
to your Bluetooth speaker, and a USB port you can use to charge other devices, which
is something the JBL Flip 4 doesn’t offer. Thanks for watching this video comparing the

  1. I dont know which one is better, I'd say if you prefer sound quality over portability I'd choose the charge 4, but the flip 4 has tinnier sound at high-full volume. The charge 4 sounds Better than flip 4 at higher volume, and charge 4 has more bass, higher wattage, and built in USB port for charging devices, and USB type c for charging. though sometimes the bass overtakes the higher pitch in the charge 4 and only has 1 speaker (come on jbl, you couldve put another one in) and the flip 4 has crisp sounds, I'd say leave your opinion, but I honestly love the charge 4.

  2. Wich the charge 4 is only 40$ more than the flip 4 what would you recomendation for going out in open area near water and talking or arising on one on a dirt bike

  3. Love my Charge 4 w my phones built in EQ boosting the treble slightly. I've had the Flip 4 and much prefer the Charge 4's 30wts and deeper sound.

  4. Really good interview you hit a lot of points. I can actually tell the sound quality difference. I like that you can charge your phone with the charge 4 but the sound quality is a con.

  5. i have two flip 4’s i use in stereo mode. is it possible to integrate a charge 4 for additional bass, as a woofer?..

  6. For $50 more i would rather get the charge 4, has better bass and cleaner sound and worth your money👌🏽👌🏽

  7. If you often outside and like bass then take the Charge 4… But if you always inside and like tekk then is the flip 4 enough for you… Trust me bois

  8. I ve compared both of those speakers, and on low and mid volumes the Flip 4 has much better detalised crisp sound, sounds rich and powerful. Charge 4 has a little more bass on high volumes, but it has large loss in sound detalisation. Charge 3 sounded much better.

  9. If most of my songs downloaded are bass boosted versions. Would you suggest I get the JBL Flip 4 first or the JBL Charge 4 first? I want to get them both but purchase them one at a time.

  10. I have a flip 4 but I wanted more volume since I work in a loud environment,is it worth buying a charge 4 for this ?

  11. Sad that the Charge 4 isn't that loud, in some cases even quieter than the Flip 4. i got them both so yeah

  12. if you put the charge 4 in low frequency mode, it drastically increases treble and bass quality and dB's of both. hold down the bluetooth button and volume down button at the same time for 10 seconds and do another review. lights will blink when LF mode is activated. do the same to switch back to "sound bad mode" this is not at all dangerous as JBL states and will not hurt your speaker. this video is very misleading because flip 4 shouldnt even be compared to a charge 4. night and day in every category. you can also run LF mode on other JBL speakers too and it drastically improves the sound quality.

  13. Just gave up my beloved special edition camo flip 4 for a charge 3 camo edition i had so much fun with the flip 4 i almost feel sad waiting for this charge 3 to come in. I will definitely be buying the flip 4 again when i can though i love how small but potent it is and the string is an extra bonus to secure it to things or hang it from something but i also couldnt pass up the extra sound richness from a bigger speaker

  14. flip 4 sounds more of like a take to the park or on a bike ride with friends, charge 4 sounds more for like parties

  15. Well charge 4 îs better cuz IT haves better bass and its clear. I have a lot of friends Who have charge 4 and Who have flip 4.i testez and charge 4 îs better. Like if u agree

  16. Charge 4 has more bass that's it. Mono speaker please that's crap. Charge 4 is 30 watts the flip 4 is 16 watts. $75 price difference for 14 watts, no thank you I had both and honestly the charge 4 wattage seems like it goes to the bass. The highs and mids are same as flip 4. The flip 4 has pretty good bass. I mean I have 6 of them so it's boomin. Just get two flip 4's for the same price

  18. A review I watched said his phone conversation was raspy and the people he talked to said they knew he was on a speakerphone

  19. What would be better?
2 Jbl Flip 4 or 1 charge 4 for the same price? Thinking of using them for going to the beach or casual parties

  20. There are links in the description if you're interested in purchasing the JBL Flip 5 or the JBL Charge 4. Let me know what you think about your JBL Bluetooth speaker below.

  21. THE charge 4 is better but IT Only offers a vin more base and play time THE catch is price ITS dubble THE prise of flip 4 so i will buy THE flip 4

  22. I will have to go for the big speaker because what I learned in medical class was that the bigger the instrument which is the bigger speaker the lowest bass it would have even a small speaker has also the bass
