Labour’s Kelvin Davis campaign launch for by-election

Kelvin Davis was in West Auckland
today to launch his campaign for the Te Tai Tokerau by-election. Davis says regardless of
who his opponents are he will promote their policies. Kelvin Davis is up
for the challenge. He’s putting himself out there
to help generate support. Now the people of Te Tai Tokerau
will see my face everywhere because the by-election will be
held soon on the 25th of June. He started campaigning in West
Auckland today meeting Maori voters. My views on Education
are still the same – as it will create a
better future for Maori. There are close to 32,000
Maori enrolled to vote in the Te Tai Tokerau electorate. He not only has to let
people know who he is but also that there is a
by-election happening soon. This election for
the region is minor compared to the general election
at the end of the year. That is why we are campaigning. His opposition from the Mana Party has already put his
signs up around town. The biggest challenge is for the
people to know who Kelvin Davis is and my goals for the people. But it’s not a two-horse race. Tomorrow the Maori Party will
announce their candidate. I have no inhibitions
as to who will be named because I will follow my own path. I am not threatened
by the Maori Party. If you do not know who he is, Kelvin is confident that in the
coming weeks you will. Irena Smith, Te Karere.
