Photomath’s app can now solve handwritten math problems

Learning any new subject can be challenging
— for many students, that subject is math. Fortunately, Photomath is here to help. Photomath is a new app that not only solves
complex math equations but teaches you how to solve them yourself. It uses your phone’s camera to scan the math
equation. Within seconds it spits out the answer, tap
the answer bar to reveal the step by step instructions on how to get the solution. Not only does Photomath tell you the answer
it shows its work as well. This week, Photomath released an update that
recognizes handwriting. Previously, the app was only able to read
printed text. It is quite adept. We experimented with several people’s handwriting
and Photomath picked it right up. The only problem I came across was with division
bars. Photomath had difficulty delineating the order
of operations. This was simply remedied by emboldening the
lines. But if all else fails, Photomath has included
a keyboard option for you to manually edit or type in any equation that is giving you
problems. The update also brings a new math expert system,
Photomath+, that solves problems like a human would, and walks users through how to solve
the problem themselves with a colorful and useful step-by-step guide. This system seems to address the tension between
having an app do your homework versus having an app help you learn. This new service could also end up being a
useful tool for parents who want to check if homework if right and navigate their way
through incorrect answers. The Photomath+ service is free through November
and will be a paid subscription after that. These new features are available for iOS now,
and will be coming to Android by the end of the month.

  1. I'm sure now teachers will make math homework into word problems . Then you have to put it together then solve it.

  2. sir mujhe Aisa apps chahiye jase hindi me likhe time and work k question aur solve hojaye jaise topic volume of solids ke sawal solve ho jaye sir

  3. Nice video.
I have used photomath and its awesome. I made a review about the photomath app in Bengali language. Because I love it.

  4. Nice now I need to be able to use my phone for the tests. My teacher always says, wtf you have an A+ but you get a 85 on your test? Shame on you!

  5. That's not even cool i'm grade 7 but i don't like it.I got higher grades in math. Also the teacher will notice it if you do a seatwork and your low on it..I don't recommend this in my self even the problem is hard

  6. Betcha it can't scan my handwriting. My handwriting looks like Egyptian hieroglyphs. It takes people like 5 minutes to figure out what 1 sentence says.

  7. This app should not be used to cheat and do all your math homework with it, but if you are really struggling on a specific problems then you should use the app. This is a great app! 10 out of 10 recommend!

  8. Unfortunately students are using this to copy and get homework done and don’t understand it so they fail tests. Not helping. They lose the understanding they get when they try to solve problems on their own.

  9. It can even do basic pre calculus with the new updates (I was trying to figure out a problem my teacher didn’t explain). I’m impressed.

  10. I just use this to give me the answers to my homework and do the work they show me and put it on the book
