Hello, my name is Brain Keever. I’m an instructional designer with Shoreline’s eLearning department and I’ll be your presenter today Now we’re going to take a look at how you can submit an assignment in Canvas. So I’m going to scroll down here to the week 10 module and here there’s an assignment in the week 10 module so I’m going to go ahead and click on that assignment and here the assignment opens up, we see some directions here and we have a “Submit Assignment” button. So I’m going to press the “Submit Assignment” button and for this assignment, I’m being asked to submit four exercise files and so really what I’m going to need is this file upload but I’ve also set it up here so you can see other alternate ways that assignments can be turned in. So depending on the format of the assignment, the instructor me ask you to submit text and if so, there will be a text entry here where you can type in your text or copy and paste it from another document here. The assignment may ask me to submit a website URL. If that’s the case, I’ll have a tab like this and I can copy and paste the URL of a web site here I may also be able to submit a document directly from Google docs here this has not been hooked up yet so we’re going to skip over that. I can also oftentimes upload media so I might be able to upload a recording that I’ve already made on a phone or a computer. I can also record a video here on the fly through this interface. allow activates my web camera and I can go ahead and record myself here give it a title Hi, this is my submission “Hi, this is my submission” and when I’m satisfied that that I can click the “Save” button and now that is ready to go head and submit. All I have to do is hit my “Submit Assignment” button. But in this case, because this assignment asks me to do some file uploads, I’m going to show you how to do that. So the first step is here, it’s asking me to upload a file or choose one that’s already uploaded. So I haven’t already uploaded the file so I want to browse, and I’m just going to go to My Downloads and pick a file there, say OK and I can go ahead and submit assignment So Canvas is taking that PDF file, submitting it, and I get a verification dialog box here that shows me that the file was turned in, what date and time was turned in. I can see the submission details, I can download a copy of the file that I just submitted if I need to verify that everything is correct. And here’s my submission details page which shows again, the file that I submitted and I can add comments if I need to and save. Allright so that is, in a nutshell, submitting assignments through Canvas. And that concludes today’s presentation if you have questions on today’s topic or any other eLearning questions please feel free to contact us at (206) 546-6966 or e-mail us at [email protected] Thanks for watching.
