The Mass Vs Weight Song – NOW WITH CLOSED CAPTION SO YOU CAN SING ALONG! Mr. Edmonds –

Mass versus weight Two measures for an object. They’re not the same let’s all see why! To determine the mass … we use a balance to do it. We use a scale to measure weight. Mass …..measured in grams …. or in kilograms … It’s all about how much stuff the object has! Grams or kilograms … they’re the units we use for mass (For mass! For mass! For mass!). Newtons are for weight. Weight’s the measure of gravity’s pull on the object. So you can see Mass and weight aren’t the same thing. Weight is the measure of gravity’s pull. In contrast to weight, mass tells us how much matter … how much matter the object has … Mass…. measured in grams, or in kilograms. It’s all about how much stuff the object has. Grams or kilograms … they’re the units we use for mass (For mass! For mass! For mass!). Newtons are for weight. Weight’s the measure of gravity’s pull on the object. Mass and weight Mass and weight. They are not the same. Mass and weight Mass and weight. They are not the same. Mass and weight. They are not the — not the same. Grams or kilograms. They’re the units we use for mass (For mass! For mass! For mass!). Newton’s are for weight. Weight’s the measure of gravity’s pull on the object. YEAH!

  1. I know one way via Mozilla Firefox. You download the add-on called "Download helper". When you play the video on You Tube, you look for the animated circles at the top and click on the .mp4 file and download the video.

  2. Thank you so much, I'm studying for a mechanics test at the moment and kept getting so confused because the term weight is so widely used! Might be a little awkward when I start humming this in my exam 🙂

  3. Mr. Edmonds, I am currently student teaching and my 3rd and 4th grade students are big fans of yours. They were upset when you did not have a video for capacity. They would really appreciate if you would respond to this comment and tell us if you are planning on making a video for capacity.

    Thank you,
    Miss Amanda

  6. Hi Mr. Edmonds. Today at school we had a talent show. Being in 8th grade, this our last year in middle school. Our 8th grade science teacher showed us this at the beginning of the year and we all loved it. Today, before the talent show was over, he played this song and had all the 8th graders do a flash mob of it. It is a very fun and at the same time educational video. Thanks for making it.

I'm a home schooling mom and your fun rendition of 'Sweet Caroline' really helped make weight and mass more understandable, and memorable….Did you know that Neil Diamond in an interview, was thinking about Caroline Kennedy when he was trying to find a name to fit the beat of that song? he said its not about Caroline Kennedy, but he got the name from her. just a fun fact for ya.
